BILL

to amend and codify certain branches of the Hindu Law

W HEREAS it is expedient to amend and codify certain branches of the Hindu Law as now in force in the Provinces of India;

It is hereby enacted as follows ;—

PART I—PRELIMINARY

1. Short title, extent and commencement. —(1) This Act may be called the Hindu Code, 1948.

(2) It extends to all the Provinces of India.

(3) It shall come into force on the first of January, 195 .
